Ovation is an independent television and digital media company dedicated to celebrating and supporting all forms of arts and culture. Ovation selectively curates and airs arts-related series, specials, documentaries and films. The television network also offers viewers a lineup of original productions.
Ovation is available to nearly 50M subscribers via cable, satellite and telco systems, including Comcast Cable/Xfinity, DIRECTV, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, AT&T U-verse, Charter Communications, Bright House Networks, and many other smaller providers and is offered in both standard and high definition, as well as on video on demand.
Stand For The Arts, Ovation's signature arts advocacy campaign, is a national initiative to raise awareness, protect access and encourage action on behalf of the arts.
Ovation is dedicated to protecting and preserving access to the arts. Ovation advocates for the creative community in two ways:
Stand For The Arts Coalition: A partnership of arts organizations across the country who stand in solidarity to protect access to the arts. This coalition gives a platform to important creative stories and empowers our audience to contact their legislators, urge support of the arts, and make their voices heard.
Stand For The Arts Award: A partnership of Ovation and Spectrum, the Stand For The Arts Award highlights exceptional arts organizations across the country that are engaged in innovative and dynamic work while preserving access to the arts for all communities.
Ovation has also provided more than $15M in contributions and in-kind support to arts institutions and arts education locally and nationally through the Ovation Foundation. The Ovation Foundation launched in 2014 to provide a focus for Ovation's philanthropic, advocacy, and educational initiatives. Since its founding, the foundation has supported nonprofit arts organizations across the country in the areas of artistic placemaking, STEAM education, and the Creative Economy.
Ovation is a privately held, independent cable network. Ovation's investors include Hubbard Media Group, Corporate Partners II, Arcadia Investment Partners, Perry Capital, and The Weinstein Company.
As of February 2015, approximately 54 million households (46.4% of those with television) receive Ovation.

History
The channel was launched in 1997 and relaunched in June 2007, coinciding with its addition by DirecTV, which gave the channel full national coverage. In 2008, Ovation also became available on Dish Network. With the relaunch, Ovation TV claimed an "energetic" new look and a new primetime schedule revolving around "genre nights" dedicated to performance, people, art, music and film. On March 1, 2010, the channel dropped the "TV" from its name in a rebranding effort.
Carriage
On December 18, 2012, Time Warner Cable announced plans to remove Ovation from its own systems as well as those operated by Bright House Networks (for which TWC negotiates carriage agreements). Time Warner Cable and Bright House dropped Ovation at midnight Eastern Time on December 31, 2012. The two providers later reached an agreement to resume carriage of Ovation on October 16, 2013, reinstating the channel on TWC and Bright House systems on January 1, 2014.
On April 6, 2015, Dish Network removed it from the lineup.
